Engineering Subcontractor Agreement

Reduce conflicts and avoid litigation – the Engineers` Joint Contract Documents Committee (EJCDC) develops and maintains fair and balanced contract documents that represent the most recent and important thought in contractual relations between all parties involved in construction and construction projects. As a general purpose subcontract for professional services, e-570 can be used to delegate surveying, geotechnical and architectural services. Users also have the option to select standard EJCDC sub-agreements for each of these specific professional services such as EJCDC® E-560, agreement between engineer and land surveyor for professional services; EJCDC® E-564, agreement between engineer and geotechnician for professional services; EJCDC® E-568, agreement between engineer and architect for professional services. EJCDC® E-562 The labour and materials subcontract between the engineer and the engineer`s subcontractor is not intended for the delegation of professional services. The EJCDC publishes standard sub-agreements for services, including the EJCDC® E-570, agreement between the engineer and the consultant for professional services. EJCDC® 2017 E-562, subcontracting of works and materials between engineer and subcontractor of the engineer. The EJCDC® E-562 is intended for use when a subcontractor supplies labor and materials to an engineering firm (“engineer”). The EJCDC® E-570, Engineer-Sub-Consultant Agreement for Professional Services, is intended to be used by an engineering firm (“engineer”) to delegate part of its project design or other professional services to another engineering firm (“sub-consultant”). E-570 is best suited for projects where the primary agreement between engineer and owner is based on the EJCDC® E-500, the owner-engineer agreement for professional services, or one of the other EJCDC owner-engineer agreement forms. As with previous editions of the E-570, the content and structure of the document are closely aligned with those of the E-500.

Both documents use consistent terminology and wording wherever possible. Despite this close connection, the E-570 can be used as a sub-consulting engineer contract if the main agreement is not E-500 or any other EJCDC document. The previous edition of the EJCDC® E-562 was entitled Subcontract between the engineer and the engineer`s subcontractor. The new 2017 edition of the EJCDC® E-562 extends the application of the previous edition by highlighting issues related to the delegation of smaller construction tasks. As a consulting engineer document, E-570 defines the terms of the relationship between the two parties, the responsibilities of the engineer, compensation and seniority. It is intended to be accompanied by a document that specifically defines the scope of the services to be provided by the consultant. .
